Where I live currently has a pretty nice view of Pikes Peak. Click here to see the most recent photos I've posted. If you'd like me to take an updated photo please e-mail me at josh_friesema@hotmail.com.

Anne-Marie and I climbed this together in the late fall. We had decided it would be a nice climb to do since it is so close to our house. It was great having only a 15 minute drive to the trailhead. I wish they were all that easy to access.

We started before sunrise, so we got to see the shadow of Pikes Peak creep closer to us as the day went on.

After some tough hiking the trail reaches the crest of a ridge and though there isn't much elevation left to gain there is still a lot of ground to cover. This shot was taken though a rock formation that is a part of Devil's Playground. The summit is the highest point visible between the rocks.

I love photo ops like these.

Just before the summit there is one last steep section through a rock field that takes some time to get through.

It is definitely strange to reach the summit of a peak and find a restaurant, cars, a road, weather station, train, and lots of other people. We had to get away from the crowds to get this shot.
